Green turtles are long-lived marine reptiles and one of the species associated with the Great Barrier Reef region.

Reef and seagrass connection

Green turtles feed in coastal and reef environments and return to nesting beaches to lay eggs. Northern Queensland’s marine habitats are important for their life cycle.

Threats include marine debris, boat strike, light pollution near nesting beaches, and climate impacts on nesting success.
